August 4th, Evergreen WA.
The Golden Gate Racing Team had a strong start to the weekend at Evergreen - their first with new driver David Mahew.  In an early practice session Mayhew ran the second fastest lap time bolstering confidence in the car's setup for the big track.  Final qualifying saw the young driver from Atascadero, CA take the Golden Gate Meat and Golden Gate Petroleum car to a 7th place starting position.

Trouble came early with contact from another car.  Shortly after, a right front tire went down and the subsequent wreck left the team disspointed.

Despite the outcome, the team felt it was a positive weekend, working with the new driver and reforming a cohesive team.  "We as a team are excited to work with David." Said Steve Portenga.  We are looking forward to the California Road Course with our new driver." David Mayhew quoted, "We felt like we had a top 3 car, but things happen that you can't control.  All in all a good experience."  Key sponsor, Golden Gate Petroleum and Bay Biodiesel were on hand to enjoy the excitement.

JULY 25, 2007 -
Golden Gate Racing announced this week that David Mayhew is coming onboard as the driver of the #21 car. Mayhew is slated to run the Golden Gate entry for the remainder of the season. Mayhew, from Atascadero, CA, has raced in four of the Grand National Series West events in 2007 and has team owner Jim Offenbach enough that Offenbach has asked the 25 year old driver to pilot his Golden Gate Meat Company / Golden Gate Biodiesel and Petroleum #21 Monte Carlo. Mayhew ran the season opener at Kyle Tx, where he finished in 6th place, then again in Phoenix where he was leading with 15 to go when motor problems ended his night, Iowa with a top ten finish and at Irwindale on the 4th of July where he finished 19th.

Mayhew's first race for the team will be the NAPA 300 at the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe WA on Aug. 4th. This will be his maiden voyage around the tight half mile oval. The Golden Gate team has extensive experience at the track and a strong success rate when running there. "David seems to be good match the team and everyone is looking forward to working with him going forward and looking to the 2008 year." Said Steve Portenga, crew chief for the team.

"We are striving to make the team a cohesive group and strengthen our standings in the series, this year and beyond." Said Jim Offenbach.

FOSTER – ROAD COURSE ROOKIE – SETS SITES ON INFINEON DEBUT WIN
June 20, 2007
San Francisco, CA
Ryan Foster will be facing an interesting challenge this weekend at the Sunscream 200; the rookie RCR Developmental Driver has virtually no experience on road courses. Does this seem to bother anyone? - No. Foster's middle name is "adaptable". This young driver is a chameleon on par with Tony Stewart, able to hop in any vehicle, on any track surface or condition, and win.

Beginning his career on dirt with Outlaw Winged Sprint Karts at the age of 8, Foster transitioned effortlessly into asphalt Late Models at the age of 15. After a spectacular showing in the stock cars he jumped back to open wheel racing with Legends where he took numerous state and national championships. From there he moved right back into heavy late models and tour cars on short tracks and super speedways, all the while being able to drop into anything, go out, race and win.

With this level of adaptability comes the confidence to tackle another aspect of racing - the right turn. Not just any right turn, but the esteemed course at Infineon Raceway. Foster will be running against some veteran road course drivers including, Boris Said, Kenny Shepherd, and Tommy Hubert who happens to hail from the same hometown as Foster. The two have raced each other numerous times in the Outlaw Karts but this will be the first time they to head to head in on a road course.

Foster is coming off a great run at Colorado in the NAPA 150 where he finished 3rd place behind Mike Duncan and Mike David. The strong finish has moved Foster back into the top ten points standings. He posted the second fastest lap in qualifying and finally was able to start a race in a decent position. From there he was able to show that he can run with the top cars and drivers. The TV commentators from HDNET and SPEED TV spotlighted Foster a number of times especially when he went over a dozens laps battling side-by-side with Mike David.

"It was really an exciting race. To be able to run upfront on a good track and against competitors like the two Mikes was a refreshing change from some of the recent starting positions and bad luck with tires we've had." Said Foster reflecting on the NAPA race. "I think I'm going to be able to get around Infineon pretty well. I like a good challenge and this (road courses) is something I've always wanted to try. Our crewchief, Steve Portenga, has a ton of experience at road courses and especially Infineon and I have a lot of confidence in his ability to setup the car to match my style of driving so that we can come away with a good finish."

This is a special event for the Golden Gate Racing Team as it is in their backyard. Based in San Francisco the team's owner, Jim Offenbach loves the Sonoma wine country and will be inviting all the local sponsors and supporters to watch the race, including long time friend, Richard Childress who has lent so much support to the team and drivers. This is also the first local race for the new sponsors, Golden Gate Petroleum and Bay Biodiesel who joined the team just last month and formed an important partnership with Offenbach's Golden Gate Meat Company when "The Butchers by the Bay" chose to convert their entire truck fleet over to the more eco-friendly biodiesel products that Bay Biodiesel produces. “This is our chance to have the sponsors come and watch in person the talent this young man has.” “It’s been a fun and challenging season so far and I can’t wait to see Ryan run this course.” Said Offenbach.

The race will once again be broadcast live on HDNET on Saturday, June 23 with an enhanced broadcast on SPEED TV July 3, 2:30 p.m. ET.

Foster Top Finish Foiled by Tire Trouble
May 2, 2007 – Anderson, CA
Ryan Foster's return to Altamont this past weekend had every possibility of being his strongest finish in the Grand National Series, but tire problems brought the promise of a top five finish to an abrupt end. Altamont, one of Foster's favorite tracks, was mired in record breaking heat which made racing physically harder and car setup more challenging than usual. Infamous for hot days and cool windy evenings the 1/2 mile oval can be a crapshoot when it comes to getting the setup right so that qualifying on hot pavement will balance out with a long night of laps on cooler surfaces. It seems that the Golden Gate Team had done well. Despite garnering a disappointing 10th place qualifying time in car that car that was loose, Foster and the crew knew that at as the sun set conditions would tighten the car up to be a strong contender.

And so it was. The 200 lap race was divided at the half-way point by a 10 minutes pit time for the field. The first half of the race was a patience-testing waiting game for the Rookie Driver. Numerous caution laps thwarted long run charges but Foster gained spots quickly up to 8th before the pit stop time.

After the stop the #21 Monte Carlo was primed and ready for a late race charge to the front. In an on-track interview during the break, Foster told the crowd, "I've just been holding back and now I'm ready to get it done." Over the next 42 laps the handpicked Richard Childress Development driver wend his way to the 5th spot. On lap 42 another car blew a motor and brought out the caution, then a red flag stop.

On the restart after the long delay Foster slowed dramatically on the backstretch, made it to the pits where it was found that the right front tire was down. A quick change and he was back out - only to discover that both rear tires were down. The crew, taxed at facing 3 flats in a row scrambled to get the front running Golden Gate Meat Company entry back on the track. Extra grease-sweep in the pits made the blacktop slick and it was a struggle to keep the jack in place during the changes. The laps continued to tick off and Foster was down 12 laps by the time the tire debacle had been straightened up. The hard charging Legend and Outlaw Kart Champion, not fazed by mechanical mishaps, stormed his way through the pack making up enough laps to finish in 21st spot.

After the race Foster said, "After a night like this, it is nice to know that I have another chance to race in just a few weeks." Jim Offenbach and all the sponsors gave me such a great car, and Steve Portenga and the crew worked so hard to make it really shine in the feature, that I'm looking forward to getting to Elko and getting a win."

The Ryan Foster Fan Club showed their gratitude to the fans by giving away 2 3-day passes to the NEXTEL Cup Race at Infineon Speedway June 22-24. The winner of the package was a 12 year Foster Fan. In a brief interview the youngster said he is very excited about getting to meet his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, at the Roadcourse race.

In addition to the usual great sponsors: Golden Gate Meat Company, Hill’s Meats, Airport Auto Brokers, Ace Auto Body, IPS Global, Victory Chevrolet Cadillac, Larsen Racing Products, Corte Madera Tow – Foster would like to thank Chase Chevrolet for its Spotlight Sponsorship for this race.

RYAN FOSTER RETURNS TO A FAMILIAR TRACK, NOW WITH RICHARD CHILDRESS AND GOLDEN GATE RACING

Local Altamont fans will certainly recognize Ryan Foster as he returns this weekend in his new ride. The Grand National West Rookie will be seated in the #21 Golden Gate Racing Chevrolet for this 3rd race of the new NASCAR Series. Foster and the #21 team heads into Altamont following a strong showing at Phoenix where both Foster and teammate Tim McCreadie had successful runs. Now, 4th in overall points and 1st in Rookie points, Foster has high expectations for his return to one of his favorite tracks, one that has a sentimental attachment.

When asked about his feelings for this weekend, Foster had only excitement to express. He explained that he could not have made it this far without help from many people along the way. As a way to honor several of these folks Foster offered, "The race at Altamont this weekend is a really a tribute to several people, Jim Offenbach - my car owner, Steve Portenga - our crew chief and Richard Childress." "Both Jim and Richard have put a lot of faith in me and Steve has worked very hard to get me a winning car, in return I intend to win for them".

At the end of 2006 Childress picked up the Northern California racer to run the “21” car, by coincidence the same number Ryan has had throughout his entire racing career; a career starting at age 8 and spanning Outlaw Dirt Sprint Karts, Legends and Late Models - with championships at all levels. At age 16 Foster made his Late Model debut at Altamont where he qualified fast time and won the Trophy Dash. Such success gives this track a sentimental significance to Foster. “Altamont has always been one of my favorite places to run and I am very excited about returning to this track with such a great car and team.” says Foster.

Foster attributes much of his success at Altamont, to the late Jeff Anthony, an Altamont track champion and crowd favorite. “Being a young driver I looked up to Jeff. He taught me so much about racing, especially how to run the best lines at Altamont, and just being a good competitor in general. He was an outstanding driver who is greatly missed.” said Foster. He will surely be thinking of Jeff Anthony as he straps in for the run, and knows that a good finish would honor the memory of his mentor.

The extended television coverage, including live broadcasts of the entire series on HD Net and enhanced presentations on SPEED, has been an extra boon for the sponsors who make the whole thing possible. As always, Ryan is very grateful to his sponsors, including this race's Spotlight Sponsor, Chase Chevrolet, Hill's Meats, IPS Global, Roto-Rooter, FoodComm International, Corte Madera Tow, and many other generous companies and individuals.

This weekend at the Altamont Motorsports Park, the Ryan Foster Fan Club will be giving away two Three Day Passes to the Save Mart 300 Nextel Cup Race Event, June 22-24 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA.

April 19, 2007 - FOSTER READY TO BATTLE FOR ROOKIE CHAMP
PHOENIX, Arizona -- Ryan Foster, driving for the Richard Childress Development Program and Golden Gate Racing, is geared up for the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series AlphaTrade.com 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. The second race in the new NASCAR series will be run under the lights Thursday night, April 19 on the 1 mile track in the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix. “I really like this track. We practiced a few weeks ago here and I loved the speed and having the room to race will be great,” Foster said. After making their debut at the series opener in Kyle Texas with a Top Ten finish and now seated 10th in points, the team is primed to take the momentum to this bigger venue.
Foster, who started his racing career at the age of 8, has nearly 300 feature wins, several Late Model championships, 3 Southwestern Tour Hard Charger Awards in 3 races, 4 state and national Legends championships with 25 out of 30 main event wins at 8 tracks and 7 Outlaw Dirt Sprint Kart series and national championships. He brings the skills learned in each division to the high speed competition of the Grand National.

Foster’s team, Golden Gate Racing, captained by owner Jim Offenbach and Steve Portenga; crew chief, is the west coast’s RCR Driver Development team. Foster is one of 11 Rookie drivers competing in the rookie point’s battle. “After our top ten finish in Texas, we know Ryan will have a great showing.” said Steve Portenga, veteran driver and now crew chief of the #21 Golden Gate Meat Company Chevy Monte Carlo. “At his first rigorous testing at P.I. R, a few weeks ago, I hadn’t expected Ryan to adjust to the big track as quickly as he did. I’m impressed,” continued Portenga. Team owner Jim Offenbach said, “We are really excited and totally committed to our new rookie.”

The Golden Gate Racing Team will have a second entry at Phoenix. Tim McCreadie (No. 31 Golden Gate/RCR Chevrolet) will make his NASCAR Grand National Division debut at PIR. McCreadie is coming off a career year in which he won the World of Outlaws Late Model championship, won the prestigious Chili Bowl Midget Nationals and was named Eastern Motorsports Press Association Driver of the Year. With both drivers in the race, longtime friends Richard Childress and Jim Offenbach will be taking in every moment of the race as the share a vantage point at the track.

This weekend is one of the biggest NASCAR companion events of the 2007 season. In addition to the West Series race on Thursday, both the NASCAR Busch Series and the NEXTEL Cup will run the venue Friday and Saturday.

Many factors will combine to make this race a pivotal point for the series. Expanded media exposure will vastly increase viewer and listener base. Live High Definition (HDTV) coverage on HDNET plus an enhanced replay of the race on SPEED TV will present the race to millions of international viewers. Always looking to new technology, NASCAR has expanded their media coverage to include Satellite Radio broadcasts and internet simulcasts and webcasts, such as the new feature, Showdown. Showdown is an audio webcast streamed from the www.nascarlocalracing.com website, which will broadcast each race week during the entire NGND season, 16 shows in all. The NASCAR Grand National series was selected for the spotlight because of its rapidly changing nature and the importance NASCAR is placing on the series, particularly with respect to it becoming a more nationally-recognized venue Add to this over $200,000 in purse money and the excitement of a double companion race for NASCAR week in Phoenix and you have a prime opportunity for enhancing sponsorship and promotional campaigns.

This kind of global exposure is one of the best things we can do for our sponsors. “The Golden Gate Racing Team and all our great sponsors are really excited about the enhanced television exposure and the opportunities that the scale of this weekend with the Nextel Cup & Busch Series is bound to bring; I can’t wait”, the #21 driver Foster claimed. March 14 2007
Ryan Foster, Steve Portenga, Jim Offenbach and the entire Golden Gate Racing Team gathered at Altamont Speedway to test and tune the new GGRT Grand National Entry car.  Under the auspices of the Richard Childress Driver Development Program, the 2007 season with the Grand National Tour is going to be the most exciting season yet for GGRT which has been a major player in motorsports since 1992.  Foster adapted quickly to the car and the crew had it dialed in no time and the clock ticked off some excellent times.  Foster, who has a strong asphalt career, worked closely with Steve Portenga and the entire crew to return vital statistics on handling and power conditions which was then converted into making the car a great handling powerhouse.   The track was all theirs and they had the entire day to put both the driver and the ride through the paces.  "First practice sessions of the season can sometimes be a bit frantic, but with the chemistry of the team and a well built car, we had a great time and very excited about the season opener in Kyle Texas on March 31st." said Offenbach.   On April 5th the entire GGRT team including Tim McCreadie will be heading to Phoenix International Speedway to practice for the April 19th Grand National Race at the same track.

WELCOME, N.C. (Jan. 31, 2007) -- Richard Childress Racing (RCR) will run its 2007 Driver Development Program through the Golden Gate Racing Team (GGRT) with drivers Tim McCreadie and Ryan Foster competing in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series.

GGRT, headed by Jim Offenbach, competed in the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series from 1997 to 1999 with a lineup of drivers that included Mike Skinner, Mike Dillon, Steve Portenga and Jay Sauter. Portenga, who finished fifth in the final standings in 1999 while driving the GGRT entry in the series, will serve as the team’s crew chief this year.

“Tim and Ryan have both achieved a lot in their racing careers so the goal is to take the RCR Driver Development Program to the next level,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “We’ve had a great relationship with Jim Offenbach and the Golden Gate Racing Team over the years and we look forward to continuing to build on that success this year with Tim and Ryan.”

Foster will run the No. 21 Golden Gate Meat Company Chevrolet in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series. The Anderson, Calif., native is a seven-time go-kart track champion who won two of the four North State Challenge Series Super Late Model events he competed in last year for GGRT.

McCreadie, of Watertown, N.Y., will drive the No. 31 Golden Gate Meat Company Chevrolet in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series and selected NASCAR Busch Series events for RCR. The 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model champion, 2006 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals champion and 2006 Eastern Motorsports Press Association Driver of the Year will also continue to run his own dirt late model program.

“We are looking forward to working with the RCR Driver Development Program once again,” said Jim Offenbach, owner of Golden Gate Racing Team. “I believe Ryan has the talent, the passion and the mechanical knowledge to run up front. With Richard’s help, and the experience of crew chief Steve Portenga, we believe we have a winning package! I am also looking forward to working with Tim McCreadie who, as Richard tells me, is one heck of a driver.”

RCR’s Driver Development Program is in its third year of competition. In 2005, Allison Duncan became the first Drive for Diversity competitor to win a feature race, claiming victory in a NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series event at Stockton (Calif.) 99 Speedway. Other RCR Driver Development alumni include Clint Bowyer, Kerry Earnhardt, Peyton Sellers, Sarah Fisher and Peter Hernandez.

Richard Childress Racing (www.rcrracing.com) has earned more than 150 victories and 10 NASCAR championships, including six in the NEXTEL Cup Series with the legendary Dale Earnhardt. It was the first organization to win championships in the NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series and Truck Series. Its 2007 NEXTEL Cup Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 07 Jack Daniel’s), Kevin Harvick (No. 29 Shell) and Jeff Burton (No. 31 Cingular Wireless). Its Busch Series lineup includes Clint Bowyer (No. 2 BB&T), Harvick and Timothy Peters (No. 21 AutoZone) and Burton and Scott Wimmer (No. 29 Holiday Inn).
